Pierre works in the operating theatre. He welcomes Mrs Harver, a 43 year-old woman, who is coming for an operation on a temparo-occipital tumour (glioma) of the brain. Some of the operation will be performed without general anaesthesia, so she will be conscious for part of the procedure. Pierre helps the porters to set Mrs Harver up.
